Meet Bill Cahill

About Bill Cahill…

I am an experienced Councillor with a proven track record.  Multidisciplined in the council portfolios of planning and development, water and waste management, as well as environment and community services, I bring a wealth of expertise to the Council.
I am committed to continuous improvement, having recently completed Master of Professional Studies Research (MPSR) from Uni SQ focusing on leadership within the boardroom and the imperative of principle-based decision-making underscoring my commitment to effective governance.
My academic journey, including a Graduate Certificate in Professional Studies Research (GCPSR), complements my extensive practical experience, positioning me to initiate vital discussions on service standards and sustainable growth, ensuring the continued benefit of our region while fostering stronger connections with the communities we serve.

With this comprehensive understanding, and my grassroots approach, I will lead initiatives that continue to prioritise sustainable growth inclusive of meaningful community engagement.

I am not afraid to ask questions or challenge debate.

My goal is to leverage my experience and expertise to foster innovation, promote positive change, and ensure a prosperous future for our whole region.

I was born in Quilpie, where my family lived on a sheep station. I started school in Quilpie. The family moved to Inglewood and after finishing Year 10, I attended boarding school at Scots College in Warwick to complete Years 11 and 12. Following high school, I started a Fine Arts Diploma at Seven Hills in Brisbane but soon realised it wasn’t the right fit for me.

Like most young people, my early working life was a bit of a mixture of employment. My career started with Telecom/Telstra in Goondiwindi. Over the course of 20 years, I gained valuable experience in various disciplines including technical, design, supervisory, and contract management roles.

In 1984, I married my wife Kim in Goondiwindi. We are blessed with two children, who are now adults with their own children.  I am a very proud poppy to four grandchildren, who add new purpose to my contribution as a community leader. I love to spend as much time as possible with them creating fun memories.
